Wow, I haven't seen/done anything worth writing about in quite some time! Here's quick recap of the recent past that seemed noteworthy. I promise to get into more hijinks ASAP.
I got back from Lost Wages (Las Vegas for those not aware) on Thursday. The last two months seemed to have been tough for my bankroll, big swings but nothing that I'm not sure is just normal statistical variance. So it's just one of those hazards of the game that I've outlasted before and I'll outlast again. I ended loser $800 in Vegas, and that was a after a devastating run that lasted hours without having a single hand hold up. It just wasn't meant to be. Should have known since I started out the week winner by $600 on Sunday.
The individual results really don't matter that much to me though because I've been playing long enough to know that the numbers work themselves out over time, so I just have to keep making the best investments at the best time. I also played recreationally for a while with White Bread and his dad (my uncle) Big Mike. Good times had by all. I even had fun playing Loose/Aggressive and ramming and jamming with all the passive players just ducking and covering. God bless their passive little non-paying-any-attention hearts. Without them, I might not have been able to get completely smashed on Beer and Tequila and still win. Don't try this at home kids, I'm a trained professional.
There was a bit of conversation by me and the guys the next day in the hotel room about certain escapades that took place by two particular individuals at our poker table. One of which was me and the other was of the female persuasion who happened to be married. She was a great chick that was having a good time at the table and said, "my clothes come off when I drink Tequila". "TRES TEQUILA'S POUR FAVOR!", I yelled to the waitress, laughter all around. I won't elaborate more, but the long and short was that nothing really happened and my response to the guys that next morning was, "look I wasn't the cause of any marital discourse, that problem was already there long before they came to Vegas." Let it never be said that I would attempt to row against the current of a Karmatic river. I would never have done what she did in her situation in a billion years, because I would never allow myself to be in that situation. Why on Earth would a person get married to someone that they don't love completely to begin with, but that's what happens the vast majority of the time. It's extremely disappointing in one sense, but I guess that it's just human nature for better or worse.
I finally got to sleep with the sun rise and crashed hard. When I came to we checked out and split up to kill time before dinner and the trip to the airport for our late flights home. I hit the B and did some damage to a Rookie at the 15/30 and helped reverse the improbable 15/30 session that I had the prior day. I went hours without winning pots and went through almost five racks. One of the B's regulars, Paulline was as shocked and disappointed at my lack of chip stacking as I was. I haven't seen a run that bad in a very long time. I just couldn't shake J-shit offsuit to save my life all day. When I saw her on Wednesday, Paulline said that I should have changed seats. I replied, "I was terrified to move at that point because I was so overdue to catch a hand." We both smirked, chuckled and shook our heads in disbelief. Ah! Such is the nature of statistical variance. If you can't stand the beats, then stay off the felt. Just recharge the batteries and get back in the fight. It's the life-long war, not a single session that matters.
Now I'm going to get back to work on a new The3Seat.com feature called PokerQuiz. Stay tuned, it'll be on the menu as soon as it's ready. It's going to be a Poker situational quiz to help people improve their game by walking through a hand like some of the better poker books have. I'm also going to allow players to add their own quiz content and discuss the answers in a forum/comment section for each hand. I also did some adjustments to the Blogger template since some people have complained that the text was running under the menus. Sorry about that folks, I run at high resolutions so I never realized that it looked awkward. Like I said, stay tuned...
