So much ado about nothing. That's my thoughts on this whole Dick Cheney hunting accident. It's apparent to me that at this time of the year, there is just nothing interesting to put in print or on TV, so even the most mundane things make the top story. I'm even getting flashbacks of the Lima, OH (born and raised, not by choice) nightly news where the local NBC affiliate's top story was frequently, "Tonight, the latest unemployment figures."

The guys went hunting, accidents happen all the time. If it weren't the VP then it wouldn't have made the last page of the Crawford, TX high school newspaper. It's not like he donned war paint made a loud scream and hunted the guy down and plugged him. Dick didn't even go for the death blow or leave the guy for dead! They took the guy to the emergency room of all things!

Teddy Kennedy on the other hand...not so much with Mary Jo Kopechne.

Speaking of evil though, go figure, Google! The latest release of their Google Desktop Search tool is probably the worst abuse of evil that I've ever conceived of! It allows you to index multiple computers (not a problem there, MSN Desktop Search has had this feature forever; Bless you Microsoft). The problem is that Google, the company who vows to "don't be evil", will copy your files up to their servers so that you can search them from other computers!!!

Yes, you heard correct. They claim that they're encrypted, YA, so are DVD's! Now comes the truly evil part. Google has just become the most subpoena'd entity on Earth. If you're suing someone for say Divorce, then you should also subpeona Google to gain access to your spouses files and emails. Google will have to give them to you, then with the aid of someone like me or hell, a neighborhood 14 year old; the encryption can be cracked and all of their indiscretions will be plain text.

How about complete corporate transparency! Just subpoena Google for any corporate officer's info and voila! They single handedly made all information on your firewalled, secured, encrypted hard drive available to the general public. You know, things like your tax records, banking and credit card information, password lists, nude pictures of your wife; although she's now divorcing you anyway. Probably because you were so stupid and installed Google Desktop Search and destroying your credit record.
